Don’t hesitate to send us an email/text/call with any questions! We hope these Frequently Asked Questions can be of assistance to you as well!

What do I need to wear to ride?

Boots with a heel and long pants are required to ride. Our insurance company requires these. You will not be permitted to ride without them. We will provide a helmet for you if you do not own own. ALL riders are required to wear a helmet when mounted. No exceptions.

Is there a way for me to meet the trainer and tour the facilities before buying a lesson?

Yes! Free Galaxy Explorations are available to schedule online at your convenience! Click on “Lessons” at the top of this website to schedule your barn tour. You can see the facilities, meet the horses, and chat with one of our trainers before you commit to purchasing a lesson or package.

Is there a weight limit to ride?

Yes. Our weight limit for riding is 245 pounds. Keep in mind that you can still be a student of Galaxy Riding School with our Pisces Specialization, for those who want to work with horses on the ground and learn about proper horsemanship, including care and nutrition!

Do I have to have my own horse or helmet?

No! You can borrow both our horses and our helmets! Leave the expensive requirements to us!

The Texas weather is crazy, how do lessons work in rain/storms?

We have a covered arena and can still ride if it is just raining! However, in the event of storms, lessons will be cancelled for the safety of the students, horses, and instructors. You will be contacted directly by your instructor by email and text in the event of an inclement weather cancellation.

I need to reschedule a lesson what do I do?

If it is more than 24 hours before your appointment, don’t worry it is a simple fix! Go to the confirmation email you received when you made your appointment and scroll to the bottom. Click on the blue Reschedule Appointment button. You can then click on reschedule to choose another time/day. If you need to cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled lesson please contact us to let us know you will be unable to attend. No refunds, reschedules, or credits will be given if you cancel with less than a 24 hour notice prior to your lesson time.

What happens if I am late to my lesson?

The time slot you selected is yours. You can still use the remainder of your lesson time when you arrive. Just be aware that ride time may be shortened to account for the necessary grooming/tacking of your horse. We may also chose a fun on the ground activity if you are more than 15-20 minutes late. If you are running late, please contact your instructor directly by text/phone call. Be advised, they may not answer you right away as they may be in another lesson.

I’m an adult, can I take lessons too?

YES!! We have just as many adult students as we do children, and we love it! Whether you are climbing aboard a horse for first time, or getting back in the saddle after a long hiatus, we are here to give you a leg up! (Well, we will have you use a mounting block- but we will encourage you every step of the way!) All of our lessons are PRIVATE so you will not be instructed along with anyone else so you never have to feel self conscious about learning!

My child is 7 and about to turn 8, should I get a Calibration Lesson or a Little Dipper Lesson?

We suggest choosing the Little Dipper lesson initially (30 minutes for $40) versus the Calibration Lesson (60 minutes for $70), especially if you are unsure if your child will love this sport. Muscle development and attention span is very different in each child and they may not be physically or mentally prepared to handle an hour long session just yet. We want you and your child to enjoy every minute of your time with us!
